I’ve been following the Pioneer Woman’s blog for quite some time now. She doesn’t know it, but she’s been a tremendous source of inspiration for me over the years. Warm thanks Ree! When she posted a fun new assignment in her photography section this morning, I knew I had to find the time to join in the fun. Basically, she uploaded a picture of Tim, her pesky brother-in-law and asked us see what we could come up with in Photoshop.
The picture was great to begin with so I thought it would be fun to add a personal touch. Those of you who follow her blog will remember that Ree often calls Tim ” Sugar Lips”! So here’s my take :

Hope you like it Ree!
I’ve been having so much fun taking pictures and playing around in Elements that I just may decide to make a business of it! Plus, the Flickr community is unlike any I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing both on and off the web. It’s become my favorite place to visit and I’m just in awe when I look at all the amazing pictures taken by super talented people from every corner of the world.

I love sunflowers and have been planting them in my garden ever since we moved to the mountains 5 years ago. A neighbor kindly gave me some seeds of a perennial variety and I was anxious to see how they would turn out. I am still completely amazed that one tiny seed can produce so much beauty and so many opportunities to multiply.
The original photo was a little fuzzy so I had some fun with it in Photoshop Elements. I found a beautiful free texture via flickr and applied it to the picture for a more dramatic effect. I love how it turned out.

The texture is actually a really beautiful picture taken by Beth Gray, a photographer from Texas. Here is the original picture.

Isn’t it marvelous? I really love the colors. It’s a great shot. Thanks for sharing your talent @bethers! Do check out Beth’s flickr, website and etsy store.
Have a great day everyone! Go out and enjoy the sunshine if you can.
I was heading to bed late Friday night when I caught a glimpse of the intricate frost patterns on our window panes. Of course I completely forgot I was exhausted and took out my camera to capture a few pictures. Nature never ceases to amaze me.
This was the original shot. The light at the bottom is a reflection of our outdoor Christmas lights. Amazing, isn’t it?

Had some fun with the brightness and contrast after I flipped it and my son told me he saw a beautiful winter scene.

Here are a few of my favorites. You can see more pictures on my Flickr Page.

Simply breathtaking. The pictures don’t seem to do them justice.

Can you see the peacock?

How about the fox?

Beautiful feather

Love this one too

I discovered frost ferns when I moved to the mountains. I guess it’s a combination of old windows and excess humidity but to me they are absolutely magical.
This was the first frost fern I ever saw : It looks like a bouquet.

Here are a few more from last year.

My husband says I have a lot of imagination but I see a dragon in this one.

There is always a silver lining to everything. My husband and I were a little disappointed with these windows when we bought this house last year. I’m starting to see these windows as a gift. Every day brings a new creation. I think I’ll enjoy them while they are still around… Soon enough, these windows will be changed and I will have to invent ways to make frost ferns on my own!
Please visit my Flickr Page. for a few more pictures of my beautiful frost ferns.
À bientôt!
