Yesterday

Going with the flow…

Yesterday, I was jazzed. Jazzed I tell you.  By 9:30 am , I had cleared my schedule and I was ready to blog and create and update and all that jazz.

Then, my screen went blank. That’s when I remembered I had been warned that Hydro Quebec would be in the area playing in the power lines and that I would have no power.  Ha!

I headed outside to take a breath of fresh air and look at the perennials sprouting around the perimiter of our yard. I listened to the wind, watched blue jays playing hide and seek in the forest and caught myself smiling and feeling at peace.

I dashed  inside when it started to rain;  the power was still off.  I wrote a little, made a new to do list, cleaned a little and then I had an idea: I decided I would go pickup Loik at school and take him out for a picnic.  I looked out the window, hoping the clouds had cleared. No such luck.  Not missing a beat, I decided our picnic would be in the living room. I laid out a checkered blanket, brought most of our plants and clustered them around he blanket and painted a large bright yellow sun in the window.  I drove to the store and picked up a few things and then I headed towards school to pick him up.

You can imagine that Loik was thrilled with our little impromptu lunch date. So was I. Nothing makes me happier than being able to give him  a magical spontaneous moment like that. Those are the days I am most grateful for choosing to work from home and being my own boss. It gives me  a sense of freedom that I love and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I drove him back to school, he happily waved goodbye and I headed back to the “office” to pick up where I left off. I am so incredibly grateful for these blessings.
