I’ve been on twitter for a while now, but being the hermit I am, I’ve not been going around trying to follow others and as such, I don’t really ask anyone to follow me although I’d really be interested in having some good conversations. The twitterverse has always seemed like one of those parties where the music is so loud we kind of have to shout at each other as we make our way through a maze of people on our way to the bar.
Yesterday, I followed a link to the Mr. Tweet site and I innocently decided to give it a try. Mr. Tweet offers to suggest “good people and followers based on subjects that are relevant” to you. At first, I was excited! A few minutes after signing up, I started getting new “followers”. I’d look at their profile and even though we didn’t seem to have much in common, I figured I would give it a chance. I decided to systematically follow every person who follows me. Er… yeah. 54 followers later and I can’t take it. (sorry guys) How people manage with 20 000 followers is beyond me.
After a few short hours of mingling with a bunch of twitterholics I feel like it’s time for me to leave this insane party and find my own groovy little lounge to chill out in and take part in some actual conversations.
So, if you’re in twitter and are tired of being “shouted” at and want to have an actual chat about things that inspire you, by all means join me. I’ll be the girl sitting under the tree sipping a tall glass of something fruity with an umbrella in it.
