I was thrilled to learn that a dozen concerned citizens from all walks of life are leading a 450 mile peace walk from Chicago to St-Paul Minnesota to challenge and nonviolently resist the war in, and occupation of, Iraq. I think it’s extremely difficult for Americans to take a stand for peace without being viewed as unpatriotic so I applaud this very courageous initiative. It will be interesting to see how many people will join in and stand together.
The group, Voices for Creative Nonviolence, is committed to nonviolence and nonviolent action. The march started earlier this month and will end in St-Paul Minnesota on August 31, 2008. Along the 450 mile route, the peace pilgrims will participate in various peaceful events and vigils. Please see http://vcnv.org/witness-against-war-2008-map for a very detailed map of routes and dates. If you’re in the area, please join in!
