This is the story how my husband Francis, unsuspecting master of the law of attraction, became a conscious creator of the magic in his life.
My husband has always been able to magnetize what he needs from life. Funny thing was, he didn’t know he was leveraging the power of the law of attraction at the time … sadly, neither did I.
We used to joke at how he was the luckiest guy on earth… at first, I thought that was the coolest thing… but after a few years, I got really annoyed with him because he always managed to get things without stressing out, without working super hard for them and without having any plan whatsoever.
While I’d be breaking my back, working hard for every morsel, he would just float around with a smile on his face and poof magic would happen: an unexpected phone call, a chance encounter, finding money on the floor… stuff like that. (As a side note, his last name is Groleau. Phonetically, his name means either Jackpot or Large piece of land or lot… if you translate it from French to English! )
The thing that made him special is that he really didn’t have any big needs or wants.. or goals. He is the type of guy who would be just as happy living in his car as he would living in a palace. I attribute that to the fact that he was raised by hippies who were in their late teens when they brought him into the world in 72. His parents were all about peace, love and rock and roll and my husband grew up in an a pretty free and open environment. It wasn’t ALL flowers and rainbows but his experience growing up made him a pretty happy-go-lucky, living in the moment kind of guy…
My parents, on the other hand, are from another generation all together. Their vision of the world couldn’t be more diametrically opposed to the one my in-laws had. My dad, born during the great depression of the 20’s, was 50 when he had me in 1973. He was a former catholic priest who had reoriented his life and was working as a parole officer. My mom was in her early 30’s and had 3 children from a previous rocky marriage. I had a very happy, loving home that was centered on discipline and order. I was taught that you have to work long and hard to get anywhere in this world. Life is about setting goals and then working your butt off to reach them.
While Francis’ dad strummed his guitar, read books by Krishnamurti and lived in the moment, my dad grilled ex cons, read police thrillers and taught me to focus on my future and my financial security.
He grew up believing life was a party. I grew up believing it was a battle.
I’m sure you’ll understand that over the course of the last 14 years since we first connected (like two magnets I might add), there have been some pretty heated discussions… It’s not always easy being with your opposite. We have had more than our share of control dramas and energy struggles but we both finally understood something this month:
- He had it right. Life is blissfully simple … it is easy to attract what you need.
- And I had it right too. You have to know what you need… goals are good!
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Hubby was working at a job he loved ( he is a trim carpenter) but the pay was not the greatest and the hours were long. Plus the commute was terrible. This was creating a huge stress on our family life and making the 3 of us pretty miserable.
One morning, he got up and said: I’m taking the day off work and I’m going to find a new job with better pay and better conditions.
He came back 4 hours later and had been hired by two places near our house for twice the money he was making at his former job.
AMAZING!!! It was the first time he had ever set a major goal for himself… the Universe responded swiftly and opened doors for him.
How did he do it?
As he was driving around to look for a new job, He said saw himself being happy doing what he loved AND getting paid handsomely for it. He saw us having quality time every day and going on our wild spontaneous FUN! adventures as often as we like.
He walked into 2 places and both companies gave him exactly what he asked for. Now folks, that is the law of attraction in action.
This is a MAJOR lesson for me. I’ve always been excellent at setting goals and reaching them, but now it’s time for me to put my guard down and have FUN! as I create the life I want.
Life is as easy as you believe it to be.
Party on!
