Life is simple - just breathe
I take a deep cleansing breath before I let my fingers begin their familiar mad dash on my keyboard. I’m amazed how much can change and happen over the course of 1 year. As I sit here outside, in my new portable office, I feel grateful.
It’s a beautiful morning; two chickadees have just landed on a branch not more than 2 feet away from me.
In French, Chickadees are called Mésanges. “Mes anges” translates to “my angels.” It makes me smile to see my angels so close to me. They revel in the delectable sunflower seeds I’ve carefully laid out for them. Even though we don’t speak the same language, I know they are grateful for the sustenance and I am grateful for their joyful presence. The sun is shining but it is still early spring so a cool breeze caresses my cheek and numbs my fingers a little.
I can hardly see what I am typing on my laptop because of the glare, but I abandon myself to the moment and trust that the words will appear on the page when the sun moves to a new position in the azure sky above. Clouds drift past me quietly and I hear the wind stroking the bare treetops that surround our house and this seemingly enchanted and peaceful forest. I marvel at how quickly the snow is melting. Spring is on its way and I feel rejuvenated and inspired.
And so begin my chronicles of our journey to a blissfully simple life.
